TalkOverRA is a platform that aims to empower people living with rheumatoid arthritis to advocate for themselves and their healthcare needs. It provides resources, community support, and tools to help individuals communicate effectively with their doctors and healthcare providers. The campaign emphasizes the importance of self-advocacy and provides tips for assertive communication and asking the right questions.
2020

This is my first year as a partner when I interviewed Dr. Diane Lacaille, rheumatologist and Science Director of Arthritis Research Canada about what remission is. I certainly learned a lot from her and you too can from this content!
Self-advocacy is important because it helps you assert your needs, navigate systems, and advocate for your rights. It is particularly important for individuals with rheumatoid arthritis. Self-advocacy requires knowledge, communication skills, and confidence.
Remission isn’t always easy to understand, learn more about what remission is in this post.
Revisiting my first year of #TalkOverRA and continuing my interview with Dr. Diane Lacaille, rheumatologist and the Science Director of Arthritis Research Canada we discuss when you should get in contact with your rheumatologist and why.
2021

In 2021 I wanted to focus on the patient perspective with RA so I invited other Canadians I know with RA to discuss various topics important to them or to understanding RA better.
Taking another look back at the past years with the #TalkOverRA campaign – this is year two where I decided to interview fellow Canadians with rheumatoid arthritis. In my series of interviews you will hear from:
5 Men living with RA – Men don’t often talk about their health publicly, so thank you to each of these men for sharing their story with me. While RA is more common in women, many men also have RA. Thank you @jiwanator @scottwearmouth @kylerichardson_esq @michaelkuluva and Kris Harrison for your words of wisdom
Julia McNally,@the.ra.yogi is a certified yoga instructor with special interest in yoga for arthritis. Julia was diagnosed with RA at age 2 and is incredible knowledgeable about RA and movement!
Several Canadian women living with RA and what living well with the disease means to them. Thank you @n_bhatti @rheum_for_improvement @theseatedview @the.ra.yogi @jgchayko and @louiseadrian for you help in this!
Cristina Montoya, fellow RA and Sjogrens warrior who is also a very knowledgeable and talented registered dietitian who I interview about diet and RA! Your rheumatologist might not have all the answers about diet and rheumatoid arthritis, but @arthritisdietitian might have a few for you! That is why I spoke with Cristina for this #TalkOverRA campaign so you can understand how diet impacts inflammation and be prepared to start a conversation with your health care providers on diet and RA with your treatment goals.
