Talk Over RA: Important Questions To Ask Your Rheumatoid Arthritis Care Team

It can feel like a daunting task trying to figure out what questions to ask, you may be worried about it being a stupid question or mispronouncing something, or you may not know how to quite yet communicate your disease or be new to your diagnosis.
This year I focused on creating content to help you understand rheumatoid arthritis, remission and low disease activity and also know what to ask your care team.
Rheumatologist
A rheumatologist is a medical specialist who focuses on diagnosing and treating rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that causes chronic inflammation in the joints. A rheumatologist plays a crucial role in managing this condition by assessing the patient’s symptoms, conducting physical examinations, ordering imaging tests and laboratory studies, and providing appropriate treatment options. They may prescribe disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) to control inflammation, relieve pain, and prevent joint damage. Additionally, a rheumatologist may recommend lifestyle modifications, such as regular exercise, balanced diet, and stress management techniques, to improve the overall well-being of the patient. Through their expertise, rheumatologists aim to alleviate symptoms, improve joint function, and enhance the quality of life for individuals living with rheumatoid arthritis.
